Maintaining a healthy lawn is an important aspect of homeownership. A well-kept lawn not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of your home but also provides a safe and comfortable environment for outdoor activities. Here are some tips on how to keep your grass healthy.

Firstly, water your lawn appropriately. Too much or too little water can be harmful to your grass. It is recommended to water your lawn once or twice a week, ensuring that the top 6-8 inches of soil are fully saturated. Depending on the season and weather conditions. Water your lawn early in the morning or late in the evening to prevent evaporation and ensure that the water reaches the roots. Watering in the middle of a hot day means most of the water will evaporate before it can be absorbed.

Secondly, fertilize your lawn regularly. Fertilizer provides the necessary nutrients for your grass to grow and remain healthy. It is best to fertilize your lawn in the spring and fall when the grass is actively growing. Use a high-quality fertilizer that is appropriate for your soil type and grass species.

Thirdly, mow your lawn properly. Be sure to never cut more than 1/3 of the grass blade each time you trim the lawn. Cutting your grass too short can damage the roots and make it vulnerable to pests and diseases. We recommended to mow your lawn to a height of 2-3 inches. Also, make sure your mower blades are sharp to prevent tearing the grass.

When should I stop mowing? Once we have reached consistent temperatures of below 50° that means it’s time to empty the tank and set the mower away for the cold season. A winterizing fertilizer can be spread and your lawn will be prepared for the cold. If any of these tips and tricks helped you, feel free to leave us a comment!
